     All medical doctors owe Horus ,the son of Isis and Osiers, because one of the most commonly used symbols in medicinal shorthand. The symbol  (Rx) for prescription goes back to ancient Egyptian times. Legend   has it that Horus (depicted as a falcon or as a falcon-headed man ) injured his lower eye-lid  as he fought with Seth to avenge his father's murder. The symbol R is the eye of Horus and X is the site of the injury . Horus recover from his injury and the symbol  Rx became a symbol for the power of  the prescription to heal. It passed down to us through the Greeks and Romans.
